Another new look

Image
How about it?  What do you think of my new look? I've used some of this before and yes, I know I change my look quite a lot, it's just that I like clean and fresh, and I didn't think I was getting that with my former blog appearance. If you want to find out how I created my header, click  here. Blessings!

Ring Around the Rose - a accidental skip

Image
While looking through other's answers to the Ring Around the Rose questions, I realized that I skipped a question!  Oops.  Oh wells, here's to playing catch-up. :) The question is: What famous author(s) do you feel your writing is most similar to, and why? AND/OR What author do you wish you wrote the most like? Well to answer the first question, I'm not 100% sure.  I have a tendency to compare my writing (or lack thereof) to two authors that I really admire: Elizabeth Gaskell and C.S. Lewis.  Mrs. Gaskell for her eloquence and demand of the English langue, and Mr. Lewis for his wide and vivid imagination. If I had to chose whom I wrote like, I would pick Mr. Lewis only because his work had double meaning.  In the Narnia books, you can see, almost feel, the point of Christianity he is trying to get across.  If I could be like that and have my work reflect the light of Christ, then that would be the greatest way of writing. I've not read all the boo...

Ring Around the Rose Week 5 (two questions)

Image
I have really been enjoying answering these questions Heidi  - keep'em coming! 1. What is the first story you ever wrote? Let's see... My very first story I ever wrote was actually a humors one.  I pictured these characters something like hobbits: small, but very intelligent and well-dressed.   It was about a little boy who lived in a very poor and starving town.  The town had this odd smell to it that made everyone miserable.   The people becomes upset with this young lad and his over-eagerness to solve the mystery (especially the candlestick maker, Mr. Newton) and his desire to see his town well-fed.  So he goes in search of the smell that is making his home so miserable and, to his surprise, he finds the answer deep in the heart of the woods: a little old man who lives in the bottom of an old tree stump.  For years this little man was trying his hardest to create a soup that would feed the town he grew up in, but failed eac...

"Fool's Paradise" - Scale (Acts 9:18)

(I meant to post this yesterday, but with computer and internet issues, it was delayed a day) My blogging buddy, and dear friend, Heidi posted a fun question  on her blog not long ago. The title of her post is Ring Around the Rose Week 3 ~ Dragon Conversation,  and the question was this: How would you go about talking a dragon out of eating you, especially if no weapons were available? Click on the link to read her full, and very entertaining story!   For me, I decided to make my answer into a little story.  Please read and enjoy. :) I would first have to remind myself to stay calm - dragons can sense fear and trembling (two things for which I am very good at completing).  After the shock, I regain what little strength I have left and slowly turn around, trying to get a glimpse at the distance of the cave entrance and wondering whether or not if I'll be able to make a run for it without getting burnt to a crisp.  Then, deep from ...

10 Favorite Film Characters Tag

Image
Thank you,  Heidi  for tagging me in this super fun post! It was hard for me to just pick 10 of my favorites but I did and here are my 10. (Heidi, I like how you added the year the films were made, and plan on doing the same - thanks for the idea! :)) 1. Anne Shirley - Anne of Green Gables (1985) I chose Anne because she is a classic and I've always loved her. 2. Sarah Wheaton - Sarah Plain and Tall (1991) Sarah was so very gentle and feminine in all she said and did.  She was super smart and open for change. I admired her for being open in a time when women weren't really different in the way that she was. I always thought I saw myself as Anne (see above), but the more I think and reflect, the more I see  little bits of me resembling Sarah Wheaton. 3. Danielle - Ever After (1999) My mother always told her daughters that one of the things she loved about Cinderella  was her joyful attitude.  Even though she...

New look

I know, I know; I change the look of my blog all.the.time.  Part of me just can't help it, and besides, I was meaning to change it!  :p What do you think?  I like it!   PicMonkey  has become my favorite little place to edit Spiritually Healthy. :-)  If you've not been there, check it out! The only thing I haven't quite figured out how to do is make a signature for my posts.  Do any of you know how to - or would you care to tell me how to? Thanks and enjoy! Blessings, Sarah
