Happenings in June

Image
It's been a while since my last post.  I apologize.  It seems that since June hit, I've been slam-packed with busyness left and right! My blogging buddy, Heidi shared a fun post about her happenings during the month of June.  Click  here  to read about it.  I enjoyed it so much, I decided to try it out for myself. (And Heidi, I did not intend to copy the title of your June posting.  I completely forgot what your June post was called!  I guess great minds really do think alike. :p) June was jam-packed with Bible studies, yoga, paper-cutting, Les Miserables, and friend/family visiting. I started a new yoga challenge and my sister decided to join me.  Here are a few pictures of our attempts at the poses. Or, forward fold. Please excuse the sweat stains - 'twas hot outside. Talk about a deep stretch! This is supposed to be Peacock pose...yeah it didn't work out. Both legs should be extended back hovering the floor; spor...

Will you speak?

It's the new year...5 days into it now.  I came across this verse while reading through the book of 2 Chronicles.  I wanted to share it, but never did.  Well, now I am. :) "And Micaiah said, As  the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak." 2 Chronicles 18:13 "... even what my God saith, that will I speak." The question for me right now is this: Will I honor Him in my speech this year...and the next?  Or even today? Think of all the men and women who gladly died for their Savor - without question or doubt they went to the grave for their Lord because they truly knew "...to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21) I know this is where I struggle: speaking up when I should.   Why yes, you DO make me nervous!  How about you?  Do any of you struggle with this fear?  I have to remind myself how many times God says "Fear not" in the Bible. He says "fear not" over 100 times!   Lord, remind me! ...

A memory {tree roots = horse carriage}

One thing my parents encouraged when their children were young was to use their imaginations. And we did.  My sister and I remember countless times when we played outside (back when children still did that!) with just ourselves, our dolls and SO much more. Here is one story about just an ordinary tree root. (I do not have any pictures to go along with these memories.  Someday I am hoping to go back to that place and capture my childhood before it goes away with the wind...) If you were going out of our house and walking down the driveway, about 3/4 of the way down on the left, there was this tree that grew out of the ground on a chunk of earth that was raised above the driveway.  This tree had a root that grew almost straight out; it was curved, like a step.  My sister and I used this as our step into our horse-drawn carriage - we wanted SO badly to own a horse!  But because we didn't, we used our imagination and it became something wonderful. ...

Disney 30 Day Challenge

Image
Hey everyone!  I know it's been a while - things have been busy! :-p   My sister sent me this challenge via Pinterest  and I thought about doing a blog post about it. I'm a big fan of Disney so I thought that this would be tons of fun. :-) Here goes! Day 1: Favorite movie Cinderella. Day 2: Favorite princess  Ariel from The Little Mermaid.  Day 3: Favorite prince  Prince Eric.  However, I really wanted to marry the Grand Duke from Cinderella.  You can read about that  here. Day 4: Favorite song Okay, so as I was telling my sister which song I was going to pick for day 4, she said something about the music in Disney's The Hunchback  of Notre Dame and I thought "why didn't I pick THAT song?" So... I am picking... The Bells of Notre Dame When this song hits 6 minutes, I get chills! Why isn't this on Broadway?  Day 5: Favorite kiss This one. Why? Because this...
