Count Your Blessings - Hymn for November

It never ceases to amaze me how God works in our lives.

As I begin a new month, a new hymn is in the works to learn and saturate my soul.

I will be honest though, when I saw the title of this hymn, I wasn't very excited about it. My prideful heart said, "I don't need to count my blessings."

Lord, forgive me for this prideful remark. Forgive me where I assume that I do not need to be reminded of what Thou hast done for me.

At the end of October, I had a prayer that I was trying to figure out how to formulate and pray to God. As I read through the blog post that contained the hymn I was to learn for this month, I was humbled reading through the lyrics because they were just what my soul needed.

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hast done.

Refrain: Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your blessings, see what God hath done; Count your blessings, name them one by one; Count your blessings, see what God hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your blessings, ev'ry doubt will fly, And you will be singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold, Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings, money cannot buy Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict, wether great or small, Do not be discouraged, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.

As I venture into November, I want to do so with a grateful heart. I want to be intentional about thanking God for what He has given me. Wether that is the shoes on my feet, the watch on my wrist, or the blankets on my bed, He is worthy of all praise, honor and glory!
