The Long Way

This morning as I was reading during my Bible, I came across this passage: "And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and return to Egypt: But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt." (Exodus 13:17-18) I read over it, then paused, and sat in the presence of the Lord pondering on this: the Lord intentionally led His people the long way to the Promised Land. "...God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near...but God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness..." Say what? God purposely led His people through the LONG way? This made me think hard on my life and the long journey God seems to be taking me on.  So far, in my (almost) 33
