Top Ten Tuesday - Books from My Childhood I'd Love to Revisit

Image
Heidi,  I love this idea and the answers you put down.  I do hope you don't think I'm coping you! Okay, so the idea of this post is to share the top ten books from your childhood that you'd love to go back to and visit. :) My Top Ten are: 1. Henry and the Great Society by H. L. Roush - my mother and father read this book to us when we were little and we loved it!  Then as I became older, I deiced to read it to my younger sisters as a part of homeschooling - they loved it and begged us not to stop reading!  But not only is it a good story, the message is even better. 2. The Chronicles of Narnia by none other than C.S. Lewis - need I say more?  These books taught me how to use my imagination and take joy in the adventure! 3. Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder - something about these stories filled me with such happiness and wonder!  Confession:  I wanted to marry Pa Ingalls.  There was something wonderful about him that I just loved  and

My {improved} reading list

When I posted  this , my list contained only a few books.  After a going back a forth with  Heidi  and getting some really good suggestions, I've added a few more books that I thought I'd share with you. Some new books include: Peace Like A River by Leif Enger Behold the Dawn by K.M. Weiland Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (yes, I've never read this) Greenwillow by B.J. Chute Damsel in Distress by P. G. Woodenhouse  Those are just a few of the books that I have on my new and improved reading list and I am quite excited about them!   Why thank you, that's just what I intent to do.  I've already read Peace Like A River  and thoroughly enjoyed it - even though it took me a few chapters to get "into" it.  I came a way from that book feeling like I just came back from a very long (and cold!) adventure!  Also, I came away from Peace Like A River more grateful for the breath in my lungs and the air that flows into them.  To say

Read it. Speak it. Write it.

Last week I felt led to memorize Colossians 3:12-17.  That was a big thing for me to do - memorize.  I'm not very good at it, and when I must do it I tend to take a good long while before I even have half of a verse memorized! So I wanted to find a way that was going to help me stay on track.  And what do you know, I came a cross this method:  Read it 10 times.  Speak it 10 times.  Write it 2 times. I cannot tell how how much this has helped - and worked!  I encourage you to at least try it. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.  Let the word

Recipe - finally

So it's been a while since I shared a recipe.  My fault, I know.  I try and post only the really "good" recipes. I came across  this  recipe via Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try - with a few alterations, of course! After I made it the first time my sister, Abigail and I said that they tasted just like a brownie - but SO much more better for you!  Here's the recipe and what I changed or didn't change. :) Ingredients 1 cup almond butter - the second time I made these, I didn't have almond butter so I used peanut instead. Definitely not as good, but still tasty.  2 eggs - I used 2 flax "eggs". For instructions, click  here. 1/4 cup maple syrup - s ince maple syrup makes me really sick, I use Xylitol. 1 tsp. vanilla extract Pinch of salt 2 tbsp. coconut flour 2 tbsp. cocoa powder - the recipe calls for 1 or 2 tablespoons. I used the later because I wanted mine more chocolate-ity but you can totally leave out the other tablespoon if
