Ciao 2012!

Am I the only one who can't believe that the year 2012 is almost over?! Where has this time gone? It seems to have just flown by... However, I so grateful to the Lord for the things I was able to accomplish and for the people He brought into my life. Plus, the Lord did a lot of pruning and weeding of my own soul. To put it into small words: I am blessed! Here is my attempt at a timeline of this past year: January - Trained (along with my mama and sisters) for our first 5k February - Ran our first 5k in 43 minutes and something seconds (yes, I know that may seem like FOREVER for all you real runners, but hey! this was - like I said - our first) March - My mama went and visited our Grandmother for 2 weeks and we were blessed with the opportunity to spend more time at home with our dad and brothers (not that when my mama is home we don't spend time with them, because we do. It was just a blessing to be able to have more intimate time with them.:) April - Went to visi

All my life I've always enjoyed singing. All my life I've always wanted to sign but never had any opportunity.  When my brother came down to visit (he had to come down because he and my other brother were in a wedding) he surprised my sisters and I with two dear friends: Jemi and Zoe. We met them back in April of this year and found out that we are all kindred spirits. Their love for the Lord is outstanding and always an encouragement; their drive to serve Him in all things is a true statement of their faith and one that I will always be honored and blessed to watch as God waters, prunes, and tends to them both. Jemi and Zoe, I am blessed to call you both my friends. God has given much more than I could ever dream to deserve... So, we went to visit my 90 year old Grandma and it worked out that we were able to sing for her and the villa that she lives in. Oh, I cannot even being to tell you how touching it was to be able to sing (some of the songs included: Come Thou Fount o

"What God hath joined..."

Okay, so back in November two of my brothers were in a wedding and we were blessed with being able to attend. Here a few pics of some of my lovely siblings at the lovely ceremony site...                                   L to R: Josiah, Emily, Me,Abigail, and Andrew The boys wanted a pic of them with their "shades" And this would be my brother Timothy  Joseph with his not-so-little hat Two of my beautiful sisters! Emily and I were as sick as dogs during the wedding! We so enjoyed the day, despite being sick! Being able to be witnesses while watching as God joined two together in holy matrimony was truly a blessing.  " What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder." -Mark 10:9

"So what DO you eat?"

I know, I know. This post took way too long!! Things were crazy at my house, my brother came for a visit, we had guests over, it was REAL busy; and for like two weeks in a row. But now I am back and ready to give ya an update on my story. Well here it is... Okay so now you are probably wondering what on earth I ate during my months of healing. I have to say that it was  very different from what I was used to but not so much that I went into shock for lack of food. Funny thing is I can't tell you how many times I've had people ask me (after learning what I can't eat), "So what do  you eat?" I would explain this to them and here is an example: Breakfast would be a bowl of Cream of Rice with Strawberries Snack  was two to three rice cakes with natural peanut butter Lunch was sometimes a chicken breast or steak with white rice, beans and spinach or zucchini Dinner  would be   brown rice pasta (I love this stuff!) with ground turkey, baby spinach and black

Part 2 of my journey

I've always been an active person, therefore I've always enjoyed working out. In my last post I said that I used a workout program called "Slim n 6" with which I lost some weight. I stopped using that program when it became too easy and when I became bored. So my sister and I got some new DVDs with different types of exercising and we began working out every morning at about 6:30. We did this 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). The type of exercising we did was anywhere from ballet, kickboxing, to pilate's (we would do about 10 to 20 minutes a day), and on our "off" days we would work out our arms. Things like push-ups, tricep extensions, and kick backs.  At this point in my journey I kind of "figured" out what was giving me stomachaches so I felt like I had some weight lifted off my shoulders, and with that I shifted my focus over to why I was having a hard time getting rid of the "last 5 pounds" and gaining the flat

Still new

Okay, so I am still new to this blogging so I apologize for the many different types of fonts and colors! Be for warned: It may happen a lot! :p That's just me. I mean if you knew me, you'd know that I sometimes change clothes 3 times a day! I don't do that all  the time, but there are days that I do. So please bare with me. :p

Part 1 of my story and how it all began

The year I started to get into shape was 2006. I was 17 years old and I hated the way I looked and the way I felt about myself. I slowly started taking notes from my mother; how she ate and how she was exercising. Watching her I decided to "take matters into my own hands". I did. Since I love food (Hey, I'm Italian! Of course I'm gonna love food), cutting out white bread, pasta and white sugars (ice creams, cakes and cookies) was very hard, especially during the holiday's! But I think what made it a little bit easier for me was the fact that I wanted change. I wanted to feel - and yes - I wanted to look better. So I stuck to whole grains, 2% milk, egg whites, very little butter, light cheeses, fruits and veggies. I started a workout program ("Slim in 6") in January of 2006 and by April of that year I lost about 15 pounds. I went from a size 14-12 to a 10! I can't begin to tell you how happy I was! I felt GREAT! Things were looking so much better for

Benvenuti!

Hi everyone, and welcome to my little spot on the world-wide-web! I've been through an interesting journey concerning food and my spiritual-well being, and I would love to share it with you, along with some recipes, tips, spiritual encouragement and my prayer is that the things I post will encourage you in your own journey concerning food as well as your faith. God bless and please stay tooned for the story!
