I'll just be a minute

Image
It's been a while, I know - sorry about that.  I've been having serious computer problems for a while and it's been  extremely frustrating because I've been wanting to post.  It's odd,  it seems like every single morning around 7:30 the internet gets really, and I mean really, slow - almost like dial-up!  Then it doesn't work at all throughout the day and forget about it at night!  We're trying to figure it out - I think it's a virus, but we're still not sure. On a more joyful note.  My brother and his wife had their baby - a precious baby girl!! 8 lbs, 6 oz and a lovely 20 inches long!  She has dark, wavy hair; olive toned skin, and grayish eyes.  She's simply breathtaking and I couldn't be a prouder aunt!!  It's been fun trying to figure out what I want to be called as well, but seeing as how she's still a bit young, I think I'll hold off for a while. ;)  However, it's all just wonderful goodness and we feel so blessed! ...

Hearing what I see

Image
As of right *now my left ear is clogged.  So much so that I cannot hear out of it.  This has happened to me many times before - it always does when I get off track with my eating.  Sounds weird, I know, but it's 100% true. I read somewhere that ear-clogging can have a lot to do with your overall health and or diet.  I wish I could find the article so that I could share it with you, but it seems to have disappeared from the web.  But basically it said that when are bodies start eating the things that it's not used to (for me it's too much natural sugar), we'll have an excess of earwax that builds up and can cause ear clogging.  This happens to be true for me, and may not be the case for you.  Consult your doctor or healthcare provider if you have any questions. If there's one thing I don't like, it's the inability to hear properly.  I find myself pleading with God to grant my hearing back; quickly so that I can get back to a "normal" life. ...

Ring Around the Rose - a accidental skip

Image
While looking through other's answers to the Ring Around the Rose questions, I realized that I skipped a question!  Oops.  Oh wells, here's to playing catch-up. :) The question is: What famous author(s) do you feel your writing is most similar to, and why? AND/OR What author do you wish you wrote the most like? Well to answer the first question, I'm not 100% sure.  I have a tendency to compare my writing (or lack thereof) to two authors that I really admire: Elizabeth Gaskell and C.S. Lewis.  Mrs. Gaskell for her eloquence and demand of the English langue, and Mr. Lewis for his wide and vivid imagination. If I had to chose whom I wrote like, I would pick Mr. Lewis only because his work had double meaning.  In the Narnia books, you can see, almost feel, the point of Christianity he is trying to get across.  If I could be like that and have my work reflect the light of Christ, then that would be the greatest way of writing. I've not read all the boo...

Ring Around the Rose Week 5 (two questions)

Image
I have really been enjoying answering these questions Heidi  - keep'em coming! 1. What is the first story you ever wrote? Let's see... My very first story I ever wrote was actually a humors one.  I pictured these characters something like hobbits: small, but very intelligent and well-dressed.   It was about a little boy who lived in a very poor and starving town.  The town had this odd smell to it that made everyone miserable.   The people becomes upset with this young lad and his over-eagerness to solve the mystery (especially the candlestick maker, Mr. Newton) and his desire to see his town well-fed.  So he goes in search of the smell that is making his home so miserable and, to his surprise, he finds the answer deep in the heart of the woods: a little old man who lives in the bottom of an old tree stump.  For years this little man was trying his hardest to create a soup that would feed the town he grew up in, but failed eac...

Happenings in June

Image
It's been a while since my last post.  I apologize.  It seems that since June hit, I've been slam-packed with busyness left and right! My blogging buddy, Heidi shared a fun post about her happenings during the month of June.  Click  here  to read about it.  I enjoyed it so much, I decided to try it out for myself. (And Heidi, I did not intend to copy the title of your June posting.  I completely forgot what your June post was called!  I guess great minds really do think alike. :p) June was jam-packed with Bible studies, yoga, paper-cutting, Les Miserables, and friend/family visiting. I started a new yoga challenge and my sister decided to join me.  Here are a few pictures of our attempts at the poses. Or, forward fold. Please excuse the sweat stains - 'twas hot outside. Talk about a deep stretch! This is supposed to be Peacock pose...yeah it didn't work out. Both legs should be extended back hovering the floor; spor...
