"...[Join] my heart to fear thy name."

Image
This verse is one of my favorites - can I even say that - that I have a favorite verse in God's Word?  I don't know, but it has  been one that hasn't left my lips, and it's just the last part (even though the whole verse is wonderful). "Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name." Psalm 86:11 "unite my heart"?   When I first came across this passage the last part of the verse "troubled" me; I didn't know what it meant. I prayed for understanding of His Word and the words of His servant, David. The word unite  means -  to join, unite, be joined, be united ( Qal) to be united (Piel) to unite Oh!  "To be joined".  Wow. "[join] my heart to fear thy name."  For me, it made the picture clearer.  Sometimes I think that Satan uses even easy-to-understand-words to make us stumble.  Have you ever had that?  Just a thought. This has been kind of a random post...but th...

Sunshine Award!

Image
I was tagged in the Sunshine Award by the lovely  Heidi  over at her blog, Along the Brandywire: A Bit of All the Rest. I may sound like a real geek, but I love these kinds of things; the questions, the answers, every thing about them just makes me smile. :-) So, here are my questions and answers. :-) 1. If you could time travel, would you rather visit medieval England or 1800's Paris? I would have to say Paris in the 1800's.  I'd love to just walk around and observe the fashion and buildings. 2. For relaxation: G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, or neither? Well, seeing as how I've never read any of G.K. Chesterton's work, I'm gonna  go with C.S. Lewis.  I think even if I knew who G.K. Chesterton was, I'd still pick C.S. Lewis because he's one of my favorites.  3. Do you enjoy pie baking? Do you have a favorite kind (apple, cherry, etc.)? I love to bake, but I'm actually not a big fan of pies. ...

A memory {tree roots = horse carriage}

Image
One thing my parents encouraged when their children were young was to use their imaginations. And we did.  My sister and I remember countless times when we played outside (back when children still did that!) with just ourselves, our dolls and SO much more. Here is one story about just an ordinary tree root. (I do not have any pictures to go along with these memories.  Someday I am hoping to go back to that place and capture my childhood before it goes away with the wind...) If you were going out of our house and walking down the driveway, about 3/4 of the way down on the left, there was this tree that grew out of the ground on a chunk of earth that was raised above the driveway.  This tree had a root that grew almost straight out; it was curved, like a step.  My sister and I used this as our step into our horse-drawn carriage - we wanted SO badly to own a horse!  But because we didn't, we used our imagination and it became something wonderful. ...

I'm thinking about

Image
. ..wait, what are you thinking about? Well, I've been thinking about doing a blog giveaway but I'm not sure how to or where to even begin.  Yes, I know I can easily Google  it, but I'd rather have someone help me who's done it before. The reason for this idea?  Well, I'd like to see if maybe one day I could sell these little papercuttings.  What do you guys think? Here is just a sample of my cuttings I'd really love any pointers you guys may have.  Feel free to comment with any tips too.  Thanks! Sarah

August memory verse

Image
Hey everyone! Sorry I'm late in posting this - as of right now I have a chest cold/sinus infection that I am getting over.  How I got sick is a long  story that I may share one day.  :-) So it's August!  This month came in like a lion for me - isn't that supposed  to be March, though? "March comes in like a lion, what else? Still the snow never melts." - I'm singing the line from the musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brother. *giggles*   This months verse was something I didn't know I needed.  God has a way of doing that, doesn't He?  Giving us something at a certain time that we don't think we'll ever need, but then something happens that reminds us of that "thing" the Lord gave us and we are almost instantly humbled? Yeah, that's me and I find myself doing a lot of face-palms! I have to remind myself that His timing is always  right. That's what I feel like most times.  I'm sure some can relate. Back to t...
