Sleeping better

I'm sorry dear friends, my posts have been lacking something fierce lately.  What with trying to get into the swing of school (figuring out my rhythm, things of that sort), and our computer acting up, I have been a crazy mess.  However, I did want to share with you something that has truly helped me in the past month or so.

I love to sleep.  I love waking up in the morning, knowing that I've rested my entire body. Unfortunately, over the summer, my sleep schedule seemed to shift.  I was consistently waking up in the middle of the night and finding it very difficult to drift back into sleep.  If you're like me and LOVE your sleep, then you'll know how frustrating it is when you know your body is not 100% rested.

Then I got sick.  Not once, but twice with something of the same kind.  It was miserable.  I was down for a whole week both time feeling like I got hit by a bus.  And in that time, I had the worst sleep I think ever.  A few days after feeling better though my dad suggested (to which I never thought) that maybe my metabolism was changing and that maybe, just maybe I was turning more into a night owl.  I've never been a fan of staying up late so this was like major bad news to me.  He brought up the fact that I had been running harder (and longer) since the beginning of the year (2015) and hadn't really taken a break.  My yoga practice became longer; my diet changed for the better (eggs never tasted so good!) and I was naturally staying up later.  I had never thought of any of that!  Thanks, Pop, for putting me at ease!

So then my mom sends me this interesting link about tart cherry juice.  I found another one and have shared it below.

1. The Truth About Cherry Juice
2. Cherry Juice Helps You Sleep Better

Ever heard of the 4-7-8?  It's a type of breathing exercise that one does right before going to bed.  I started doing this and have seen amazing results - as well as with the cherry juice!  I feel rested.  You know how sometimes you can feel when you've drifted off to sleep?  Well, I haven't felt that in about a month!  I have noticed that I'm not tossing and turning as much as I was before; I'm waking up feeling like I've been asleep for days!  It's so wonderful! :)  Even this morning, I was like "Thank you, God, for giving me complete rest!"

Maybe this will help someone else.
Blessings friends!

  1. Thank you for the sleeping tips. I am going to try these! I don't struggle with insomnia anywhere nearly as bad as I did before I had children (something about running around after munchkins tires me out or something!) but every now and then it rears its ugly head again.
