Come, Ye Sinners - Hymn for September

We are officially in FALL season! How has time gone by SO quickly?

I say it every summer, but I love the warm weather! Tank-tops, shorts and long days are a few of my favorite things. Though I am looking forward to a change in the weather, part of me does become sad to see the vibrant green of summer fade away. While most people are already putting out their pumpkins, burning their spiced candles, and ordering their chai lattes, I am still putting on sunscreen and basking in my fading flower garden for just a little while longer.

Anywoo...

The hymn for this month is a beautiful one. Have you heard it? It's called Come, Ye Sinners.

1. Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, Weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love and power.

Refrain: I will arise and go to Jesus, He will embrace me in His arms; In the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

2. Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome, God's free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentance, Every grace that brings you nigh. Refrain

3. Come, ye weary, heavy laden, Lost and ruined by the fall; If you tarry till you're better, You will never come at all. Refrain

4. View Him prostrate in the garden; On the ground your Maker lies. On the bloody tree behold Him; Sinner, will this not suffice? Refrain

5. Lo! th'incarnate God ascended, Pleads the merit of His blood: Venture on Him, venture wholly, Let no other trust intrude. Refrain

6. Let not conscience make you linger, Not of fitness fondly dream; All the fitness He requireth Is it feed your need of Him. Refrain

Isn't that a beautiful song? The tune is rather easy to follow as well!

One thing that I can never figure out is that some hymnals won't have all the verses. Why is that? With each song I learn, I try and find a version on YouTube as close as possible to the written text. Often times it isn't easy and the one I end up finding only records the first two or three verses.

Let me know if this is a hymn that you have sung before!

Be blessed, be safe, and be BOLD for Christ!
